The concert is at Kimball Recital Hall on the UNL Campus and starts at 7:00PM.  Below is posted rehearsal and call-time information for all choirs.

Thank you to everyone who auditioned for a choir for next year.  The lists are now available by clicking here.  If you do not see your name listed, we would love to add you to our new new choir class, Black and Gold. Please see Mrs. Noonan, Mr. Rickert, or your counselor after the break.

Congratulations to our "Singing Youth of Nebraska" Honor Choir participants.  They traveled to North Platte on Saturday, January 23rd for a day full of singing and presented a wonderful concert with an excellent guest conductor.  This year's honor choir freshmen (pictured from left to right) are:  Celia Walters, Aisha Monismith, Tillie Jones, Brehan Lambert, Catherine Wedin, and McKenna Prater.
    Great job LSE Singing Knights!

Friday, January 15, 2016

We are off to a good start for third quarter.  All of the choirs have started learning new music, and we are also preparing students for upcoming auditions for both the Spring Musical (Mary Poppins--see the Calendar for audition dates) and next year's choirs. Auditions for next year will take place during classes and after school starting late January to early February.  In the meantime, students can start to prepare on their own by drilling some of the practice ear-training exercises available here.

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

As of today, we are starting our busy performing season.  Please refer to the Calendar for performance times and locations.  It is important for singers to stay on top of their schedules this month and also to be caught up in all classes, as we often perform during the school day!
Many thanks to Brian Noonan and Beau Poehlman for creating this first rate video promoting our choirs.  It was shown at the Pep Rally this morning and we're sure you'll want to share it with family, friends and prospective singers!

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

Welcome back to a new year of singing!  In case you missed the handout that has been sent home with students, there is a Choral Kick-off this Thursday, August 20 in the LSE Commons at 6:00 PM.  Parents and guardians of Southeast singers are invited to attend this meeting where you will be introduced to various aspects of the LSE choral music program.
In the meantime, students in all classes have been walked through our Choral Handbook, which contains a wealth of information that will be useful to students and their families.  Students should be bringing home paperwork to be filled out and returned as soon as possible.  Thank you for your help!
Also, dates have been entered into our Calendar for all performances and other important activities scheduled as of today.  This calendar is updated throughout the year, so feel free to use it as a resource whenever you have questions about dates and locations of performances!

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

The end of the school year is coming up fast!  Click on End of the Year Reminders for some important information about upcoming events and other end of year concerns.  The biggest upcoming event is A Little Knight Music, our final concert, which features all choirs.  The concert is next Tuesday, May 12, at 7:00 PM at Kimball Recital Hall at 11th and Q Streets.  All classes will rehearse at Kimball throughout the school day.  Click here for the rehearsal schedule, and click here for more detailed information about the concert.

With fourth quarter already getting into full gear, now would be a good time for students and their families to make sure they have all of their financial obligations fulfilled.  For the vocal music department, this specifically refers to payments for performing outfits and t-shirts.  If you have questions about whether you have outstanding bills for choir, feel free to email your child's teacher for the current amount due.  Thank you for your support of our department!

Friday, March 6, 2015

Recordings of Knight Sounds, Excalibur, and Singing Knights performing at Wednesday's concert are now available on our youtube channel.  Click videos to enjoy!
    Have a great Spring Break!

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

****Please be aware that the concert for Court Choir and Queen's Court for Thursday, January 19th has been cancelled.****

There will still be a mandatory meeting that evening at 6:00 for students planning to go on the Chicago trip (at least one parent per family is recommended to attend).  Please plan to meet in the commons for about 30 minutes.

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

With the start of second semester, we are already talking about auditions for next year's groups.  Auditions will begin on Monday, February 2nd after school.  Students are being prepared for the audition process during classes.  If anyone would like extra practice on the pitch memory and pitch ID part of the audition, there are sample exercises hereDue to the large number of students interested in choirs, it generally takes several weeks to hear everyone, so decisions will probably be announced sometime in March.
Also upcoming are auditions for our Spring Musical.  Signs will be posted at school this week with details.
In the meantime, be sure to check out all of the wonderful pictures parents have been sharing of our holiday performances on the Booster Page.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

We hope everyone had a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving break.  We are now in full December performing mode, with a few performances already under our belt and many more to come.  Please refer to the Calendar for a full list of all groups' performances.  And don't forget that our Holiday Concert and Madrigal Dinner are next Monday, December 8.  The Holiday Concert starts at 7:00 PM and features all of our choirs.  The concert is at Sheridan Lutheran Church, and is free to the public.  The Madrigal Dinner is also at Sheridan Lutheran Church and starts at 5:30 PM.  The dinner features Bel Canto and select other students--your child should be able to tell you whether he or she is involved.  If you wish to attend this fun and optional event, tickets are $12 for adults.  Order forms are available at school or can be downloaded at our Facebook Group.  Tickets need to be ordered by Wednesday.  If you miss the deadline, please call the number listed on the form to find out if tickets are still available.  You do not need tickets for the Concert!

The Photo Galleries have been updated with several pictures from last school year and a few new ones from this fall.  Remember that pictures can always be posted on our Facebook Group and/or on the Booster Page, or can be sent to me if you'd like them added to the Photo Galleries.  Also, don't forget that our first concerts are coming up fast:  On Thursday, October 16th at 7:00 Singing Knights, Excalibur, Queen's Court, and Bel Canto will perform in the Performing Arts Center.  On Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 Knight Sounds, Countesses and Noblemen, Ars Nova, and Court Choir will perform in the Performing Arts Center. Hope to see you all at both!  Remember that all dates for performances can be found at our Calendar

Friday, August 15, 2014

All vocal music students were given an information sheet to bring home about an important parent meeting to be held next Thursday, August 21, at 7:00 PM in the LSE Commons.  There will be a lot of information covered in this meeting, including an introduction to Southeast Vocal Music Department's educational philosophy, information on Choral Music Letters, student financial concerns, choir outfits, upcoming auditions for various performing opportunities, travel opportunities, and ways for parents to stay involved and informed. This meeting is not required for students, but we are asking that each family be represented by at least one adult.
Students were also introduced to the Choral Handbook today.  We are asking parents to review the Handbook along with their students.  Then, please print out the last two pages of the document for signatures.  These signed sheets are due to be turned in by Tuesday, August 26th.

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Welcome back to the 2012-2015 school year!  Notice the new tab above for All State Choir Info.  Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can audition for the NMEA All-State Choir, and can learn more about the process by reading the linked info.  I'm also working on updating the calendar for the new school year.  Look for more updates in the next couple of weeks!

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Thank you everyone for another successful year!  Our varsity groups (Court Choir, Queen's Court, Ars Nova, Bel Canto, and Countesses & Noblemen) took time during their finals to record the songs they've learned this year.  I've added these new recordings to the page I made after the Holidays.  Enjoy!
Also, for graduating seniors, here is the recording of "Time of Your Life" so you can practice for Graduation between hosting and attending parties!
I'm still working on adding some end of year pictures to the Photo Galleries.  Look for that update in the next week or two!

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Order forms for recordings of A Little Knight Music are available online at www.lsechoir.org/alkmorder.pdf.  Forms and payment should be sent directly to the address on the form, NOT brought to school.  Enjoy!

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Thank you to all of the family and friends who came to A Little Knight Music last night.  It was a very successful concert, and it was wonderful to have such a large, supportive audience!
There is one more Vocal Music event to cap off this school year, and that is our Choral Banquet.  The Banquet will be held in the LSE Commons tomorrow evening (Thursday, May 15) at 6:00.  This is always a fun event, in which awards and letters will be presented to vocal music students following a delicious pot luck dinner.  Those families wishing to attend are asked to bring dishes according to their last names:

The banquet is optional, but we hope many of you will choose to join us in celebrating another great year of vocal music at Lincoln Southeast!

Thursday, May 8, 2014

"A Little Knight Music" is next Tuesday, May 13, at 7:00 PM at Kimball Hall on the UNL Campus.  Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults and will be sold during lunches at school on Friday and Monday (NOT on Tuesday, as we will all be at Kimball rehearsing that day).  New this year, each family with a singing student is entitled to two free tickets to the concert.  These will be available at the box office along with any additional tickets you may want to purchase.  The box office at Kimball will be open before the concert starting at 6:00.
All choirs will rehearse at Kimball during the day on Tuesday.  The schedule for rehearsals and times students are excused from other classes will be posted on the M111 door and can also be viewed here

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

As we head into the end of the school year, we are working hard to prepare for our final concert, "A Little Knight Music".  All choirs will perform at this event, which will be held at Kimball Hall on the UNL downtown campus on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 PM.  All singers will need to arrive at the concert site at 6PM for our only rehearsal for the finale.  Since we do have to pay for the use of the performing site, there is a charge for this concert.  Tickets will be sold during the week prior to the concert and at the door.  Look for more information next week from your student.
Auditions for solos for this year's concert finale will be held after school on Monday, May 5.  Singers can practice on their own by viewing the music here.  If you are interested in a solo and are unable to audition at the scheduled time, you must arrange for an alternate time with Mrs. Noonan or Mrs. Moore before Monday.  It's going to be a great concert!

Friday, March 28, 2014

The lists for next year's choirs is now online.  Click here to see who has been placed in each group.  Please know that every student has been thoughtfully considered and placed in the choir that we believe will best promote his or her musical growth.  We are excited about all of our choirs for next year, and expect that anyone placed in any choir is going to have a great experience!  If you have any questions about your placement, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Noonan are happy to discuss them with you, but please wait until next week at school to set up a conference.  Thank you!

Thursday, March 27, 2014

After many weeks of auditioning and deliberation, the lists of students chosen for next year's choirs will be posted tomorrow, Friday 28 at about 3:15 both here and in the office window.  Please read the information here about what to expect when the lists are posted.

Friday, January 10, 2014

Welcome back to second semester!  Our students are hard at work already on new music, and we are getting off to a fast start.
For planning purposes:  auditions for next year's groups are coming up quickly.  Students will be asked to sing a solo (appropriate songs for each level of audition have been discussed in classes) and demonstrate certain skills with sight reading and pitch recognition.  In case students would like some practice with the pitch memory and pitch identification portions of the audition, I have uploaded some examples here.  "trebleid" and "treblemem" are examples in the female and unchanged voice range, and "bassid" and "bassmem" are examples in the male range.
